As I told you, except for a quiet room and fifteen minutes of your distraction free time you need nothing else. You do not focus on any particular object but focus on the entire environment around you. Your upper body should remain straight and you should take deep breaths. After sometime you will begin to notice your surroundings in entirely a different light. Your meditation will let you feel like a bird who has hitched a ride on a thermal and does not need to flap its wings to fly higher. It is doing nothing but is still climbing to new heights. Same results are achieved by the mindfulness meditation. You should allow your spirit to soar on wings of your increased awareness to reach for your true identity.
I have used the simplest of the terms to describe it. This will not happen straight away after you start mindfulness meditation. In the beginning you may think that you are wasting your time. There is always a period required for you to get accustomed to whole thing. Still there will be no fireworks to announce your achievement. Your true self and the purpose of your being in the world will come to you in a very subtle manner. Nobody will need to poke you in the side to draw your attention towards that. You will just know.
