The family needs to be strengthened and united because it plays an indispensable role in uniting a community. Unfortunately, these days, we cannot deny that families are deteriorating. There are many elements that cause this failure – drugs, peer pressure, poverty, sickness, and other hardships and challenges. And this failure in the home directly affects the community. The causes of cases like stealing, riots, gangs, even murders, rapes and other inhumane crimes can be traced down to family-related issues. It is actually the declining family structure that is causing the whole community to fall.
But did you know that such huge problems in the community could have been avoided if families stay firm amidst life’s trials? Sometimes it’s the simple things that make a huge difference. Simple regular family bonding may prevent teens from stowing away and being hooked to drugs. Simple family activities may steer couples away from divorce, simple activities like biking.
Never underestimate what this very simple activity can do to the family and to the entire community. Biking can actually provide the family a chance to be together and spend some real quality time. And quality time does not mean staying in front of the television all day long, or letting the TV baby sit and teach the kids. This misses out on the true essence of family quality time.
In biking, no one gets left behind; no one is ignored or forgotten. Everyone can hop on his or her bike and pedal away together. An hour of family biking once or twice a week can create wonders.
The fun and the laughters, the excitement, and just the stress-free feeling of being together as a family riding together around the block or at the park can make family ties stronger. The good mood and the lighter feeling each family member feels during and after riding will definitely help avoid contentions, arguments, and fights in the house. Biking can truly create a peaceful home.
And if a family is at peace with each other, appreciation will boost, trust and loyalty will be strengthened, and love will intensify. These are the wonders I have been talking about. And more about wonders, I say, “A family that bikes together stays together!”
